Discover the ancient craft of willow basketry in our beautiful Hartfield studio. Under the expert guidance of Nick Vane, who brings fifteen years of teaching experience, you'll create your own traditional round basket with handle to take home.
This intimate workshop is designed for people seeking a mindful, creative experience away from everyday life. Working with natural materials and traditional techniques, you'll find the rhythmic process of weaving both calming and deeply satisfying.
Nick's patient teaching style ensures everyone receives individual attention throughout the day. You'll master fundamental skills that form the foundation of this timeless craft, leaving with both a beautiful handmade basket and the knowledge to continue your basketry journey at home.

Safe handling of traditional basketry tools
Creating a round base using the pairing technique
Staking and weaving the basket sides
Multiple traditional weave patterns

PLEASE NOTE: Willow must be worked damp, so please wear clothes you don't mind getting wet or bring an apron.
