FELTED SUMMER SEASCAPE WITH CECILY KATE
At The Oast Studio, Hartfield, East Sussex
On this workshop you'll learn how to 'paint' with wool, creating your own needle felted seascape. It's a wonderfully therapeutic process and perfect for beginners and intermediate level alike - no artistic experience required.
'Painting' with wool is a magical process: fibres can be added and removed easily, without damaging your landscape. The soft, cloudy quality of the wool creates a diffused image, reminiscent of an impressionist painting. You'll work much as you would with watercolour, building up layers to bring depth, light and atmosphere to your scene.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:
How to lay out dry, loose wool fibres in layers onto a pre-felt 'canvas', much as you would when painting layers for a watercolour landscape
How to choose your colours and create depth, perspective, light and shadow
How to needle felt the layers down as you gradually build up your seascape
How to add the final foreground details that bring your scene to life
How to frame your finished piece, ready to hang at home
WHAT'S INCLUDED:
All materials needed
A wooden picture frame with glass — we'll frame your finished piece so you can take it straight home to hang on your wall or give to someone special
Seascape images to work from for inspiration
Fresh coffee, tea and homemade treats
