Suminagashi Marbling Workshop
Join Kate for a playful and exploratory workshop discovering Suminagashi, the Japanese art of marbling with ink on water.
This mindful, hands-on session introduces both traditional and contemporary approaches to the technique, resulting in beautifully unique marbled papers — no two prints are ever the same.

What you’ll learn
A brief history of Suminagashi and its origins
How to float and manipulate water-based inks on water
How to print marbled patterns onto paper
How to work with oil-based inks and compare results across mediums
What you’ll make
A collection of unique marbled papers created using both water-based and oil-based inks
One framed marbled piece to take home and display
Kate will also share ideas for how you can use your marbled papers after the workshop.

This is a relaxed and enjoyable workshop with plenty of time to experiment, practise, and play - you’ll leave with a beautiful selection of marbled papers and the confidence to continue at home.
