Willow Basket Weaving Workshop - Hartfield, East Sussex With Nick Vane Please note: This class runs over two consecutive days Spend two peaceful mornings learning the ancient craft of basket weaving with experienced maker Nick Vane. Over fifteen years, Nick has guided countless people through their first basket, and in this intimate workshop, you'll discover the satisfaction of transforming natural willow into a beautiful, functional round basket with handle. Duration: Two mornings from 9am - 1.30pm Suitable for: All levels, including complete beginners Class Size: Maximum 4 What You'll Learn Following traditional methods, you'll learn how to select and prepare willow, use basketry tools safely, pair the base, stake up the sides, master a variety of basic weaves, finish a border, and attach a handle. Nick's small class size means you'll receive plenty of one-to-one guidance as you work. You'll also learn essential basketry terminology and where to source materials to continue your new craft at home. What's Included All willow and materials needed to make your basket, tools and equipment, and teas, coffee and freshly baked cakes throughout both sessions. If you’re unable to attend for any reason, please note that we are unable to offer refunds for our courses. However, you are welcome to transfer your booking to a friend or family member — just let us know who will be attending in your place. Alternatively, once the course is fully booked, we can attempt to resell your spot through our database and social media. If we are successful, we can either issue a refund (minus a 10% administration fee) or offer you a place on an alternative course, subject to availability.
