WET FELTED VESSELS WITH Cecily Kate
At The Oast Studio, Hartfield, East Sussex
Learn how to make a beautiful seasonal botanical felted vessel with Cecily Kate.
Using the time-honoured tradition of wet felting coupled with modern techniques, you'll make a beautifully round felted vessel embellished with needle felted botanical details - a piece you can proudly display as a work of art, use practically as a plant pot, or give as a unique gift for someone special.
Cecily Kate will guide you every step of the way, supporting you as you choose your own colour palette from a vibrant spectrum of coloured wool and silk fibre, alongside a range of earth tones.
Where our ancestors once felted around river rocks, you'll be using a sturdy modern inflatable ball as your 3D form, or 'resist', along with a few other contemporary aids to help the process along. These techniques are very easily replicated at home, so once you know how, you can carry on experimenting with colour combinations and different designs - the sky's the limit with these free-style techniques.
Please note: wet felting is great fun and does involve soapy bubbles, water and a bit of elbow grease, so come prepared to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in.
