Service Description

WATERCOLOUR FLOWER CARDS with Ruth Johnson At The Oast Studio, Hartfield, East Sussex Spend a gentle three hours painting flowers and gathering them into beautiful cards to delight your friends and family - cards that feel truly individual, because every flower is painted, cut and arranged by your own hand. In this session with Ruth Johnston you'll slow down and really look at each flower, learning to observe its shape, colour and character before capturing its essence on paper. Ruth will guide you through mixing, blending and shading, showing you how to build depth and play with the contrast of light and dark so each flower comes to life. You'll then paint a vase, carefully cut out your painted flowers and leaves, and tuck them in to create a charming dimensional flower card that lifts away from the page. Working from images, you'll explore a range of flowers and arrangements and build a small repertoire of your own - flowers you'll be able to recreate and add to at home, long after the class has ended. Ruth is a warm, experienced teacher who offers gentle guidance and encouragement, with the focus always on enjoying the process and letting go of expectation. No experience needed - just come and enjoy.
