SEW YOUR NEW FAVOURITE SKIRT with Annabelle Davis At The Oast Studio, Hartfield, East Sussex Create a beautiful, easy-to-wear skirt with a comfortable shirred elastic waistband. In this workshop you'll learn to sew with shirring elastic for a soft, stretchy waist, gather fabric evenly, and achieve a lovely flowing finish. Perfect for confident beginners looking to build their skills, you'll leave with a versatile skirt you'll reach for again and again. THE DETAILS: Duration: 5 hours Suitable for: Confident beginners and intermediates Class size: 8 WHAT YOU'LL LEARN: How to sew with shirring elastic Gathering and shaping fabric Constructing a simple skirt Hemming techniques for a neat finish WHAT'S INCLUDED: All other materials needed (see "What to bring" below) Tea, coffee and freshly baked treats, plus a freshly made savoury snack to keep you going through the session The use of a sewing machine, or you're welcome to bring your own WHAT TO BRING: 2.5 metres of lightweight woven fabric (such as cotton lawn, double gauze, viscose, linen blends or chambray) for a midi-length skirt. This amount suits most sizes up to approximately UK 18. If you're making a longer skirt or are a larger size, we recommend 3 metres to be sure of plenty of fabric. A note on fabric: widths between 110cm and 140cm work well. Lightweight fabrics with good drape (viscose, rayon, cotton lawn or double gauze) give the best result. Please avoid heavier fabrics. If you’re unable to attend for any reason, please note that we are unable to offer refunds for our courses. However, you are welcome to transfer your booking to a friend or family member — just let us know who will be attending in your place. Alternatively, once the course is fully booked, we can attempt to resell your spot through our database and social media. If we are successful, we can either issue a refund (minus a 10% administration fee) or offer you a place on an alternative course, subject to availability.
