SEVEN SISTERS - FELTING

Create your own unique artwork and learn to "paint with wool"

115 British pounds

Service Description

The Seven Sisters cliffs are one of the most dramatic and recognisable landscapes in Sussex and in this workshop you'll capture them in wool. Using needle felting and some wet felting techniques, you'll create a framed artwork that's entirely your own, ready to take home and hang on your wall. Tutor: Cecily Kate Time: 9am - 1:30pm Level: Suitable for all, including complete beginners Class size: 7 THIS CLASS IS PERFECT IF YOU You're drawn to the Sussex landscape and would love to recreate it in a new medium. You'd like to try needle felting for the first time, or develop the skills you already have. You enjoy a slow, therapeutic creative process with a beautiful result at the end. WHAT YOU'LL MAKE A framed needle felted artwork of the Seven Sisters, built up in layers of merino wool on a pre-felt canvas. Cecily will frame your finished piece during the workshop so you can take it straight home — or give it as a gift. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN How to "paint" with wool — laying dry loose fibres in layers, just as you would build up washes in a watercolour. How to use wet felting techniques to create particular effects within your landscape. How to create depth, perspective, light and shadow. How to add foreground detail to bring the whole scene to life. WHAT'S INCLUDED All wool and materials needed, a square wooden picture frame with glass, and all refreshments and freshly baked treats throughout the morning. WHAT PEOPLE SAY "What a fantastic morning spent with Cecily Kate learning about needle felting and producing beautiful landscapes. Literally painting with wool. Cecily Kate was so caring and patient, determined we were going to produce pieces of art. The coffee and fabulous cakes helped." - Maggie ACCESSIBILITY Most of our classes are held upstairs.
