Service Description
LARGE WILLOW PLATTER With Nick Vane At The Oast Studio, Hartfield, East Sussex Ready to take your willow weaving further? In this satisfying full-day class, Nick Vane will guide you in creating a large, sturdy woven platter - up to 36cm across, finished with beautiful twisted willow handles. It's a lovely piece to display or use at home, and a real step up in skill and confidence. This is a class for those who already have some experience of willow basketmaking - whether you've joined one of Nick's classes before or woven elsewhere - so you can build on what you know and tackle something more ambitious. A normal level of hand dexterity is needed, as the twisted handles in particular call for a bit of strength and nimbleness in the fingers. THE DETAILS: Duration: Full day, 9am–5pm Suitable for: Those with some experience of willow basketmaking Class size: 4 WHAT YOU'LL LEARN: Working with willow to build a large, strong, evenly shaped platter base, developing your weaving technique and tension over a bigger form, and creating and attaching twisted willow handles for a handsome, durable finish. You'll leave with your own large willow platter to take home. WHAT'S INCLUDED: All willow and materials, teas and coffees, freshly baked treats, and a delicious two-course lunch - all provided by Alison from The Oast Bakery. WHAT TO BRING: Just yourself and your enthusiasm - all materials and tools are provided. You may like to bring an apron, though we'll have everything you need. If you’re unable to attend for any reason, please note that we are unable to offer refunds for our courses. However, you are welcome to transfer your booking to a friend or family member — just let us know who will be attending in your place. Alternatively, once the course is fully booked, we can attempt to resell your spot through our database and social media. If we are successful, we can either issue a refund (minus a 10% administration fee) or offer you a place on an alternative course, subject to availability.
