Service Description
WATERCOLOUR BRUSH LETTERING CLASS A Modern Calligraphy class at The Oast Studio, Hartfield, East Sussex Spend a relaxed and creative morning learning modern watercolour brush lettering in this beginner-friendly workshop led by Helen Wallace. With: Helen Wallace Time: 9:30am - 1:30pm Suitable for: All This workshop is suitable for all levels, including complete beginners, and is designed for both right and left-handed participants. It’s a calm, enjoyable introduction to brush lettering, with plenty of guidance and time to practise. You’ll begin by learning the foundations of brush calligraphy, including brush control, watercolour flow, and how to form basic letter shapes. You’ll then put these skills into practice by creating words, quotes, and short phrases, while exploring decorative techniques such as loose florals, colour blending, washes, and ombré effects to add interest and personality to your lettering. Towards the end of the session, you’ll bring everything together to create a finished piece to take home. All materials are included, and you’ll also receive a complete brush lettering starter kit to keep. This includes an aqua brush pen, watercolour paints, a paint palette, and practice worksheets. Teas, coffee, and homemade cakes from The Oast Bakery are provided throughout the morning.

If you’re unable to attend for any reason, please note that we are unable to offer refunds for our courses. However, you are welcome to transfer your booking to a friend or family member — just let us know who will be attending in your place. Alternatively, once the course is fully booked, we can attempt to resell your spot through our database and social media. If we are successful, we can either issue a refund (minus a 10% administration fee) or offer you a place on an alternative course, subject to availability.
