28th September

10am - 4:30am

With Annabelle Davis

Suitable for: Basic sewing knowledge and Improvers

Class Size: 6

These large scale floor cushions are lovely made up in a medium to heavy fabric. They are a great project for beginners and intermediates and a super useful addition to your home. Adding the hand stitched detail takes them to another level and gives a really beautiful finish.

These cushions are also great in the garden, just chucked on the grass as the weather gets a little warmer. Or offer one to your pooch as a super comfy dog bed!

You will learn:

  • How to set up your sewing machine - and some trouble shooting

  • How to understand the different qualities of fabric

  • How to sew and finish seams neatly

  • How to insert a concealed zip

  • How to sew boxed corners

  • How to add hand stitched detail

What's included:

  • A good selection of fabric remnants

  • One 45cm x 45cm cushion pad

  • All other materials needed

  • Tea, coffee and custard tarts on arrival

  • A delicious home-made lunch

If you would like to bring your own fabric, you will need 75cm of fabric at 140cm wide, or 1m if it is narrower. A medium to heavy weight soft furnishing fabric is appropriate for this project. Please avoid velvet or any fabric with a nap.

Alison from The Oast Bakery will treat us to some of her delicious baking and plenty of teas and coffees to keep us going.

You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine, or use one of ours.

"I had such a good day. Thank you Annabelle for all your sewing expertise and guidance and Alison for the delicious food. It’s the equivalent of a day at a spa, soul nurturing, a day for oneself, creating something with your hands."
