Learn some essential sewing skills as we explore the art of cushion making.
You will learn:
How to set up your sewing machine - and some trouble shooting
How to understand the different qualities of fabric
How to sew and finish seams neatly
How to insert a concealed zip
What's included:
A large selection of fabric remnants
One 45cm x 45cm cushion pad
All other materials needed
Tea, coffee and custard tarts on arrival
A delicious home-made lunch
Once you have learned the techniques to make your first cushion, you will have the opportunity to make a second cushion cover to hone your new skills.
If you would like to chose your own fabric, please bring half a metre for your cushion. A medium weight cotton or linen are easiest to work with and appropriate for this project. Please avoid velvet or any fabric with a nap.
Alison from The Oast Bakery will treat us to some of her delicious baking and plenty of teas and coffees to keep us going.
You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine, or use one of ours.
"I had such a good day.
Thank you Annabelle for all your sewing expertise and guidance and Alison for the delicious food. It’s the equivalent of a day at a spa, soul nurturing, a day for oneself, creating something with your hands."
