12th July

9.30am - 5.30pm

With Cecily Kate

Suitable For: All

Class Size: 6

Chickens are quirky and fun to needle felt due to all their amusing characteristics. You can really play with the wool and bring out the posturing of your hens and capture the little conversations they have with each other; sometimes fussing and indignant, other times loud and broody (especially when laying eggs) but always content when having their head stroked or lazing in the sun.

Making a hen is actually easier than it looks as their shape is less distinctive and there’s more freedom and leeway to experiment with colours and features.

You can also play with stylised feather patterns and dot designs.

You will make...

• A gorgeous chicken with beak and legs

During this workshop you will learn…

• How to shape the core wool  body form.

• How to sculpt the wool into the distinctive chicken shape and how to blend subtle shades of downy yellow wool to bring life to the chick

• How to create realistic eyes that have a glint of light in them using only wool and your needle (no glass eyes).

• How to wrap the legs to make them secure and sturdy.

Whats included...

• Wool

• Wire and wax tape

• Templates

• 100% wool mats and needles

• All other materials needed

• Refreshments, Oast Bakery cakes and a delicious lunch

"Just a line to say how much I enjoyed the hare felting class last Friday. Great instruction in beautiful surroundings with a delicious lunch and pastries too. Not to mention a very cute hare. What's not to like? "
