With Annabelle Davis from Sutura Sewing
Suitable for: Complete Beginners
Class Size: 6
Does your sewing machine make you feel nervous? Have you always wondered what all the buttons are for? And those extra presser feet... what do they do?
Whether you have a manual or a digital sewing machine, old or new, bring it along to The Oast Studio and GET TO KNOW IT by spending a morning with Annabelle's guidance.
If you don't have a sewing machine, you are welcome to come and learn how to use one of ours.
We'll go over the basics that are needed for most sewing projects and look at various trouble shooting options as well as learning how to take out the bobbin casing and give your machine a good clean. You'll be amazed at how much fluff has gathered there!
We'll have time to experiment and play with different stitches and make a simple item to take home.
This beginners’ sewing machine course covers:
the different parts of the sewing machine
threading your machine and winding a matching bobbin
stitch selection
starting to sew
setting tension
seam allowances
presser feet – when to use them and how to change them
basic sewing machine maintenance
What's included:
A large selection of fabric remnants to experiment with
Tea, coffee and custard tarts on arrival
Spare sewing machines to learn on if you don't have one of your own
Alison from The Oast Bakery will treat us to some of her delicious baking and plenty of teas and coffees to keep us going.
Very friendly and instructive, well worth attending and the homemade cakes were wonderful. As a complete novice and a man, it was so helpful. Would recommend with no hesitation.
